40 Days Of Prayer - Day 18

Planted In Him

Scripture

Colossians 2:7
"…continue to live your lives in Christ, ROOTED and built up in him…”
Matthew 9:36
"When He saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few."

Devotion

Churches are closing. Church attendance is down. So people don’t want Jesus anymore? Jesus said the problem is not with the harvest. In other words there are plenty of people who are ready to come to Jesus. So what’s stopping them? Harvest labourers. The church is stopping them. We are stopping them. The Heavenly Father’s own sons and daughters are holding back the harvest. Yikes! I don’t like the sound of that.

So why are lost sons and daughters, why are our Fav 5’s coming to Jesus, getting baptized, coming home to the Father here at New Hope? You are engaged in the harvest work. You are harvest labourers.

Imagine if everyone at New Hope engaged in growing, maturing, developing their gifts and focusing on the ministry God has called them to? Imagine if we were all equipped and fully engaged in harvest labour. So that when our Fav’s come they will be embraced by solid mature leaders who can help them know and follow Jesus as Lord.

Prayer

"Lord may I put down my roots deeper into you this year. May I mature in Christ. Build in me a solid foundation."

Ask - what the Father would have you focus on in your growth and maturity. Listen and share this with your life group.

Obey  - take the next steps in your growth this week.
