DIRECTOR OF TECH MINISTRIES

New Hope Church Niagara is a quickly growing, vibrant church.  We currently have 4 Services on a Sunday, weekly Youth and Young Adult programs running during the week. God has called us to expand into other regions of Niagara, and as such we are looking to hire additional staff to run and empower quick-growing ministries.

The Director of Tech oversees all technical and media equipment for all related ministries across all current and future Campuses. The Tech Director is responsible for maintaining and building teams of volunteers to operate and care for the relevant equipment across all campuses. This is a full-time salaried position with a work week that includes Sundays.

Responsibilities

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead New Hope Church’s Technical Teams (Sound, Lighting, Graphics, Live Video Production, IT, etc.)
  • Recruit, train, lead and schedule volunteers for the above teams
  • Be a key member of the weekend service planning team
  • Purchase, maintain and improve all technical equipment
  • Oversee the video/recording streaming/mixing production for the weekend service and other appropriate services
  • Manage the media inventory and library

CAMPUS WIDE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Schedule all tech volunteers for all weekly and special events as needed for all Campuses.  This includes Sunday services, weddings, funerals, etc.
  • Recruit, train, lead and encourage volunteers to serve on the Technical Teams (Sound, Lighting, Graphics, Live Video Production, etc.)
  • Purchase, maintain and improve all technical equipment
  • Maintain all stages to a professional level as determined with the Worship Pastor
  • Support and maintain all computer systems for the tech needs of all ministries and staff
  • Provide tech support to all ministries such as Kids, Youth, Adults, etc. through training and other resources
  • Attend the weekly Service Planning Meeting and work with the Service Planning Team in planning weekend services and special events
  • Oversee all the video streaming production for the weekend service and other appropriate services
  • In co-operation with the Worship Pastor, record, edit and prepare the weekend service video and ProPresenter elements
  • Assist in the video production as schedule allows
  • Setup, record, edit and post the weekly podcast
  • Manage the media inventory, library etc., and archive all media
  • Other duties as required

FIRST STREET LOUTH RESPONSIBILTIES
  • Recruit, train, lead and encourage volunteers to serve on New Hope’s Technical Teams for First Street Campus (Sound, Lighting, Graphics, Live Video Production, etc.) 
  • Ensure that all tech roles are scheduled and filled for all services and events  
  • Work with service directors each Sunday
  • Mix and upload the recorded Sunday service to our YouTube channel (Training will be provided)

  • Support and work in cooperation with other ministries to maximize opportunities across ministry areas. Communicate and collaborate with all areas of ministry for maximum efficiency and cohesion (ex. Worship department oversees kids’ worship).
  • Attend team leader meetings, ministry leader meetings and other staff called meetings
  • Passionate for communicating the message of Jesus to our culture, volunteers and church family
  • Build, train, and lead teams of people to provide exceptional multimedia and IT support
  • Research, learn and implement systems to support our various ministries
  • Oversee the technical support for staff computers and system administration needs over multiple locations
  • Maintain alignment with New Hope’s vision and values when it comes to technical and multimedia ministries
  • Have the personality and skills necessary to manage the various IT and tech needs at New Hope Church
  • Experience with networking and systems administration an asset

Requirements

  • Position - Permenant. Reports to the Worship Pastor
  • Hours and Expectations - Full time with volunteer hours as per handbook
  • Compensation – Based on experience and education and competitive market rates
  • Pension/Benefits – Available based on hours and qualifications
  • Vacation - 2 weeks during term of the contract. See Staff Handbook for details
  • Probationary Period – All new employees will be on a three-month probation period effective the first day of their employment. During the probation period either the employee or New Hope Church may end the employment for any or no reason with or without notice.
  • Flexibility Clause – During your employment your direct supervisor may request that you undertake other duties and responsibilities which reasonably pertain to your job description.
  • Variation Clause – New Hope Church periodically examines and updates job descriptions to ensure they relate to the job performed. Your direct supervisor and you will review your job description.   • Proficiency in sound and video production
  • Experience with video editing 
  • Advanced live sound mixing (analog and digital), excellent working knowledge of microphone theory and sound system design and extensive experience mixing sound for contemporary music styles in challenging acoustic environments
  • An understanding of Audio DAW systems
  • Knowledge and expertise in the use of ProPresenter 7
  • Working knowledge of Video systems, switchers, and mixers for multiple camera feeds
  • A level of expertise in stage lighting and systems such
  • Proficient in MAC & Windows Operating Systems
  • Able to manage time and schedules well and meet deadlines consistently
  • Capable of handling several tasks at once and following through with accurate and strong organizational skills
  • Innovative, creative, self-starting, able to work with & motivate volunteers, and work with a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills to negotiate and communicate with volunteers and team members

ASSISTANT CAMP DIRECTOR

New Hope Day Camp runs for one week, August 12th-16th 9:00-3:30 for campers.  August 10th-August 18th  is ‘Missions Week’ for New Hope Church, where the whole church is called to volunteer their time to provide a safe place for children to get to know Jesus, learn to love Jesus and start to serve Jesus.  The program has included over 600 campers and 300 volunteer staff. This is the 18th year of Day Camp and our program has always been volunteer-led.  

The role of the Camp Director, Ass. Camp Director and Camp Program Developer & Volunteer Managers (the Summer Team) is to support and recruit volunteers in their leadership, not to replace the volunteer roles.  This year camp will take place at two different multi sites to allow for a larger number of campers and our building construction (tentatively New Hope Church Niagara and Club Roma).  The sites will be linked to connect and compete with each other in various games and competitions.

Responsibilities

In preparation for Camp
  • Supervise along with the Camp Director the Summer Team offering feedback, tracking of hours, assigning appropriate tasks to team members, team building and encouragement
  • Project management of tasks delegated to the Summer Team Volunteer Leaders
  • Recruit volunteers for camp preparation, support, and staffing. 
  • Support Head Leaders, in particular, with the recruiting of their teams
  • Use Day Camp preparation to network and include people who are new to New Hope        
During the week of Camp
  • Anchor one of the Day Camp sites supporting the volunteer Head Leaders
  • Support the Summer Team with their support of their Head Leaders
After Camp
  • Follow up of Camp families
  • Follow up, encourage, and thank Camp volunteers
  • Provide follow up and feedback to Camp Program Developer & Volunteer Managers
Additional Responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned by the Family Pastor
  • Possible support for other family ministries at New Hope Church

Team Responsibilities

Typical Work Week

  • Attend team leader meetings, ministry leader meetings and other staff called meetings.
  • Most weeks the team will work Monday-Friday, 9:00-4:30. Some flexibility in these days and times is possible. Team members will be responsible for logging the hours they work
  • Some weeks the team may need to work Saturday or Sunday and may take Friday off in lieu
  • The team will work more than 35 hours during the week of camp, and may have other Friday’s off in lieu, before or after the week of camp
  • As with all church staff, team members are expected to be involved in volunteer service approximately 7-10 hours per week.
*Assistant Camp Director will also work various casual hours in the months before work formally begins.

  • Hours and Expectations - Full Time from Monday, May 20th- Thursday, August 30th
    • 20 days off are available in this time frame, for a total of 14 weeks of work, 35 hours/week average.  Only 5 days off may be booked between June 24th and Aug 30th
    • Must be available July 28th and 31st,  and August 10th-18th and “Day Camp Launch Sunday” on June 9th
    • Only 1 Sunday may be booked off between June 24th and Aug 23rd
  • Compensation – $17.50/hour

  • Requirements - Applicants must be in or returning to school (Secondary or Postsecondary) or under 30 and 15 or older.
  • Project Management and ability to delegate tasks, manage progress and monitor efficiency
  • Comfort and clarity in communicating via email, over the phone and in person to volunteers and staff
  • Able to inspire and cast the vision of the mission of our camp to both the Summer Team and volunteer leaders
  • Virtual and in-person collaboration and teamwork skills; proficiency working with Office and Google suites collaboratively
Any of the following, while not required by all members of the Summer Team will be an asset for any members of the team:
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Audio/visual tech equipment experience
  • Design and Publishing Programs and/or Spreadsheet Proficiency

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Experience volunteering or working at camps or other children’s ministry
  • Experience leading other leaders
  • Education or experience in event planning, education or recreation an asset
  • Experience with New Hope’s Day Camp
