40 Days Of Prayer - Day 32
God is Sovereign
Scripture
1 Chronicles 29:11-13
"God presides over every event, great or small, and He is in control of our lives. He rules all creation with all knowledge and power."
"God presides over every event, great or small, and He is in control of our lives. He rules all creation with all knowledge and power."
Devotion
The Dutch theologian Abraham Kuyper once wrote, “there is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry: ‘Mine!’”
In saying, “mine,” the King in heaven looks down at every broken piece of creation, every lost or renegade human being, with a heart of reconciliation. As the Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:19, “In Christ God was reconciling the whole world to himself.”
And Christ, the sovereign one, actually dares to include us in this work. As Paul says, "He gave the church “the ministry of reconciliation… entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:19 -20).
Knowing this, that the sovereign Lord of the universe is with us, and including us in his plan to reconcile all things, means that we can get busy doing the work of mission. And we can do so, knowing that we have a powerful God of love behind us supporting us and giving us the strength to carry out this great work of the Kingdom.
How can you join in on this Kingdom Legacy? Find a place to uses your gifts and talents for God’s glory. Invest your resources, time and energy in what God is doing in the local church.
