40 Days Of Prayer - Day 40
Walk In Him
Scripture
Colossians 2:6-7
"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving."
"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving."
Devotion
This morning is a big day. We have just been praying for 39 days, seeking the will of God, trying to discern his voice, and trying to understand what he wants us to do. What he wants us to give? I am sure God has spoken in wonderful, mysterious and surprising ways. I am sure for many it has also been challenging, maybe even uncomfortable ways. And to be honest, that’s exactly how it should feel when the God of Heaven and Earth speaks to us.
When God speaks, he often calls us out of ourselves, out of the expectations and possibilities that we have, and into the expectations and possibilities that he has. Sometimes that feels overwhelming, or even impossible to imagine. But, if we, as Col. 2:6 says, have receive Christ Jesus the Lord, then that means we have chosen not to be the one who puts the ceiling on our possibilities.
The Jesus that we have chosen to follow is Lord of Heaven and Earth, “In him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:18). If that is true, then you need not be afraid to “walk in him” and “walk with him.” For as Jesus himself said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10).
So do not fear obedience, fear only disobedience, and trust that whatever Jesus calls you to equals life to the full. So be a cheerful giver and a cheerful obey-er, for what God has for you is far better then what you can imagine for yourself.

Prayer
"Lord, thank you for saving us. Thank you for including us. And thank you for calling us to something higher than we could ever imagine or expect for ourselves. Give us the strength to trust you, and to lay down our fears and discomfort. And in their place help us to walk in you with fully expectant hearts, that you will do more then we could ever think or imagine. To the glory of your name. Amen."
